KASUR: Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif on Monday reiterated that if the Supreme Court (SC) of Pakistan allows, he would publicly hang the main accused in Kasur rape and murder case.
Talking to the media in Kasur after meeting with the 7-year-old rape victim’s family, Shahbaz said that if a law regarding public hanging is passed and that if the apex court authorises such a move, the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader would publicly hang Imran Ali.
“If the honourable SC and the law allows, I will ensure that he (Imran Ali) is publicly hanged in Lahore or Kasur and an example is set,” CM Punjab said.
Shahbaz added that he is as disturbed and aggrieved as the victim’s parents and that he has assured the victim’s family members of justice during a meeting earlier today.
He also said that he wanted to visit the aggrieved family immediately after the main accused was arrested, but had to delay his visit due to a medical illness.
The CM had made similar statements regarding public hanging of Imran Ali on January 23, during a press conference announcing the accused’s arrest.
