National Security Adviser Nasser Khan Janjua Tuesday called on Indian High Commissioner Ajay Bisaria. Matters pertaining to improving the bilateral relations including the recent worsening situation in Indian Held Kashmir came under discussion, said a Foreign Office statement.
Janjua expressed serious concerns over the ongoing human rights violations in Held Kashmir, saying: “The use of force will lead us nowhere and only further worsen the fragile situation.” “Pakistan is deeply committed to the cause of Kashmir and supports the resolution of this issue politically and according to the aspirations of Kashmiri people. Dialogue is the only way forward to resolve our disputes,” he added.
Janjua said that Pakistan was committed to resolving all outstanding issues through comprehensive dialogues. He reiterated that Pakistan was pursuing the policy of friendly relations with all its neighbouring countries, including normalcy of relationship with India. The Indian envoy acknowledged that Pakistan and India definitely needed to improve bilateral relations. He said, “Both countries have immense potential to improve the relationship and cater to each other’s needs.” He also suggested taking small steps to improve bilateral relations, including exchange of prisoners, visits of medical teams and trade initiatives. “We can build on these small steps between us and take the relationship towards normalcy to address the bigger issues,” he added.
